Bangladesh Armed forces consist of three different forces. These forces are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air force.

The motto of Bangladesh army is “In war in peace we are everywhere for our country”. The motto of Bangladesh navy is “In war and peace invincible at sea”. The motto of the Bangladesh air force is “Free shall we keep the sky of Bangladesh”. The members are always energized by these mottoes.

Bangladesh army is the largest among all the three forces, it is mainly for security of land of Bangladesh. There are many cantonments in Bangladesh for directing the regular activities of the Bangladesh army. Bangladesh Navy is for sea and coastal area security ,specially for the security of bay of bengal and it's huge natural resources. Bangladesh Air force is working for the security of our sky ,they are working as the defender of the sky of Bangladesh.

Let’s start from the beginning, the three forces started their journey in 1971 during the liberation war of Bangladesh. Bangladesh army played an important role by the frontal attack against Pakistan, formatting the war strategy along with division the whole country into 11 sectors and by making the mukti-bahini trained. Bangladesh navy as part of Bangladesh forces during liberation war. As I mentioned previously that Bangladesh was divided into 11 sectors, sector-10 was under the control of naval commandos. The operation jackpot was directed by the naval commandos on 15 august 1971. International shipping was discouraged from visiting Bangladesh and seaborne trading was stopped. The simultaneous attacks destroyed the myth of normalcy in East Pakistan in the international media. Another operation during the liberation war by the air force was operation kilo flight on December 3,1971. The operation decimated the oil supply of pakistan and made it impossible for the pak-army to continue the war. For the brave contribution. 7 members of Bangladesh armed forces are honored by the highest military award “Bir sreshtho”  The most valiant heroes are Flight lieutenant Motiur Rahman(Air force), Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir(Army), Sepahi Mohammed Hamidur Rahman(Army), Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rauf(Army), Engine room artificer Ruhul Amin(Navy), Lance Naik Nur Mohammad Sheikh(BGB; previously BDR), Sepahi Mostafa Kamal(Army).

From the beginning  till now these three forces made Bangladesh proud by contributing members on the UN mission for peace.  Every year many members of the armed forces going to the country where the civil life is in danger. The members who are sent for the  peace keeping mission they are working hard to fulfil their duties. And giving security to the innocent people from the evil forces. Currently 6731 members of Bangladesh Armed forces are serving in the UN peacekeeping mission. According to the information by the Bangladesh army the members of Bangladesh armed forces serving across 43 countries. A total 165 members make supreme sacrifices in peacekeeping missions. The whole world knows the sacrifices of the members of the armed forces of Bangladesh. Though it is a difficult task, the members are doing their job bravely and presenting a brave Bangladesh.

The armed forces giving service nicely in Bangladesh, they are also serving in the development work of Bangladesh. Many engineering works are handed over to the engineering branch of the armed forces. They are doing this work properly. For example the security duty of Padma bridge is handed to the Bangladesh army, and the Bangladesh navy is in the role of security for the Bangbandhu tunnel.  A lot of development and security tasks are under the control of the armed forces of Bangladesh.

The armed forces also contribute to the education sector. A lot of schools and colleges are situated in Bangladesh, which are under the control of the army, navy, air force separately . There are some popular and high quality universities also which are under control of the armed forces. They are Military institute of science and technology(MIST), Bangladesh university of professional(BUP), Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman maritime university(BSMRMU), Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman aviation and aerospace university(BSMRAAU).

Therefore we can say the armed forces of Bangladesh contribute a lot in almost every sector in Bangladesh, also doing their work in proper manner and making the nation proud.
